This tool was developed for a university brief focused on researching, testing, and designing a digital experience for BRANZ, an organisation that provides practical tools and guidance for the building and construction sector in New Zealand. For this project, I explored how BRANZ could better support first-time homeowners, with a focus on making complex building information more accessible to a non-technical audience.
I designed a new-build affordability tool that guides users through a simple questionnaire, which then provides personalised cost estimates, building information, and recommended next steps. I mapped the user journey and developed a high-fidelity prototype in Figma. I then tested the experience with recent first-time homeowners and iterated on the design based on their feedback. The final design brings complex building information together into a clear, approachable experience that helps users understand what they can afford and what steps they need to take in their homeowner journey.
